I spent 7 hours in the garden! A mammoth gardening session indeed!! We will have lots of lovely tubs and pots through the summerso the hard work will be well worth it. I am delighted with the new Usborne spotters guide Garden Flowers and although it is a children’s book, it is superb for adults. I was able to identify lots of plants. I was also able to take a virtual trip to the Royal Botanical Gardens at Kew. The internet linked sites for this book are brilliant.

And so to bed!! Another busy day tomorrow

Wow what a great leadership training meeting Usborne ran yesterday!! Great meeting in the morning then the travel incentive was announced after lunch followed by a brilliant talk by Mark Rhodes (NLP speaker) rhodes2success It was such a red hot talk that the fire alarm went off!!!!!! We had to evacuate and return for the end of the talk. Yet another brilliant Usborne day. Now I am looking for people who would like to win the Usborne trip to Hong Kong as a reward for growing their own home based business and earning money whilst having fun!!! Who wouldn’t????

43 Usborne organisers are off on their travels.

There is a lot of excitement amongst Usborne organisers as 43 of us prepare to jet off on a fabulous holiday cruising from Miami to Mexico via Key West Florida.

How many other companies thank their sales team like this? Although we are all independent organisers, (sole traders) we represent Usborne Books, working our businesses just how we want to, working the hours we want to and when and where we like. Our business start up cost is just £38 and we are able to build whatever size business we like. From day 1 Usborne offer us incentives from FREE books, luxury days out all the way up to FREE holidays. Every step of the way they give us excellent tools to help us to become successful. It truly is an excellent business opportunity that is so flexible it can be totally tailored to fit round you family and your life. I joined over 6 years ago and can honestly say I have never looked back. I am just off to finish packing and then when refreshed from my trip I will be ready for World Book day and the 7 Books fairs and 1 sponsored read I have booked for March. I have of course, kept one day free and that is the day some of us are being treated to a day trip to Paris!!

In these difficult times, why not come and join me and my fun loving team and grow your own Usborne Home based business. As Usborne is in a great period of growth, there has never been a better time to join and if you join in February you don’t have to pay your starter fee (£38) until March after you have had time to earn it!! Do get in touch. I promise you lots of help and support.

I really, really love my job. How many people can actually say that these days? I decide when and where I work and who I want to work with. This morning I have had a lie in and now i am up and refreshed and ready to go!!! Just deciding which part of the business to work first. I have so many choices. I can work with schools organising book fairs and ready steady reads (sponsored reads) I can go and see individual customers and advise them on the suitability of book choices and sit and drink coffee while they look at books or catalogues ( a far cry from my teaching days!) I can help charities with fundraising via my business. I am taking part in the community book pledge where local businesses donate books to local schools. I can also help people to grow their own Usborne businesses. It costs just £19 to become an Usborne organiser and then the more you put in, the more you get out.
There is a lot of support and help along the way and many people run their Usborne business alongside another job as I did initially. I was a supply teacher and mixed and matched my teaching and my “Usborneing”!! Finally I made the jump to full time Usborne and have never looked back. Whilst I enjoyed many of my years teaching, Usborne gives me the complete freedom to do what I want when I want and I have had so much fun. In my opinion, they are the best company with which to be involved. They give us all the tools to build our businesses and they reward us well with great incentives. It is less than a month now until 43 Usborne organisers jet off to join a five day cruise stopping at Mexico and Miami!! Usborne treat us so well. Some of us are also going on a day trip to Paris in March and are being treated to a meal up the EIffel Tower and a trip down the Seine! We have just had the fun of the Gala awards and the conference and many of us have been tempted to get very busy by the prospect of a trip on the Orient Express in the Autumn. What I love about my job is that I can make a difference to families lives. I can help to grow readers (Usborne’s new Grow readers initiative) and I can also help families during the credit crunch by helping anyone over 18 to earn extra by becoming an Usborne organiser. Why not come and join my Usborne family? or benefit from being an Usborne customer. Let me look after all your Usborne needs

Oh dear, I haven’t blogged since 22nd September that’s nearly 2 weeks. A lot has happened and I have been very, very busy!
I have been to Basingstoke for one of Val’s brilliant Usborne training days. I went with Angela and Claire. Then I went to a networking evening at the Lakeside restautant which has recently opened for business. I would like to say a big thank you to the owners as they have also made a generous donation of Usborne books to Oakfield school as have David Acheson of Locallife, Peter Tomlinson and Jon Carter of Beta Pak, Joanna of Fusion Arts and Tina and Di
Angela and I will be running a book fair at Oakfield school on Monday and it will have a fairytale theme. We will have lots of Usborne books on display and we will have plenty of bargains to tempt the parents.
I also fitted in a two day trip to do granny duty and had a lovely time with the girls. We walked in the park and collected conkers and watched squirrels! It was super.
I set up another book sale at the Badgers (junior part of St Johns ambulance) fun day at Binstead and sold more books there.
The last day of the month was quite an interesting day. It was the last day of an Usborne travel incentive – a trip to Mexico and Miami and I was still quite a long way off but thanks to a lot of my new Usborne organisers who put on orders, the points came in and I achieved the points (about 12 points over) and 25 minutes to spare – the cut off was midnight. I thought I was a last minute lil but 3 girls came in after midnight – the last one at 11.55 pm!!!!! On Wednesday next, on or executive club day out, the company will confirm the winners!

Angela is a superstar – she helped me sort out the books in the stock room!! I am exhibiting at Olympia next week at the Early Years Teaching exhibition . It was a big task and she left my house at silly o’clock but good job well done.

I set up another display for the parents at Shalfleet school and more lovely books were sold in this, the National Year of Reading.

It has been a very busy time and we are now approaching Book week which again will be busy with book fairs etc.
I am just now preparing to go and promote everything “Usborne” at the Big day out in Freshwater tomorrow.

Don’t get me wrong, I really love my job as an Usborne book representative and I have a lot of fun and this weekend was no different. On Saturday afternoon, I went with Claire (in Nikki’s team) down to the Ice rink. We set up stall at the rink side during the Wight Raiders versus Romford raiders match. The idea was to sell our lovley books and raise funds for the Wight Raiders. It was an exciting and noisy meeting and the raiders won. So did we and we are delighted to welcome Laura, who recruited Jamie both on the night. My intention had been to help Claire get her first recruit but we did better than that and got a recruit, who got a recruit – and both forms have been faxed in to the office ready for the FREE September starter kits to be sent out. Yes there are just a few days left to benefit from the FREE credit Crunch starter kit – where else can you get a business for nothing!!!!!
Claire also sold some books and she will be going back regularly to sell books and support the fundraising!
More fundraising on Sunday. We rented a stall at the Barton Manor open day which is held in order to support the fantastic work the Earl Mount Batten Hospice do for all their cancer patients.
It was a beautiful day – the weather was perfect and bands were playing all afternoon. The atmosphere was wonderful and Angela and I sold quite a lot of books. I am very grateful to Lawrence, Angela’s husband who very efficiently puts up the gazeebo for us. Where would we be without him!
We got another booking for next week and quite a lot of people who want to join our special offer e mailing list.
The Vectis Sunrise Rotary club were providing hot food and again supporfting the fundraising. I am a member but as i was unable to man the stand as I had my own stand there, I supported them by buying my lunch there!!
What a very pleasant weekend.

Angela and I spent a wondeful day selling our beautiful Usborne books at Arreton Manor for Ladies day. It was a lovely event set in the beautiful grounds of the manor house – the sun shone and the people came and the wind and rain were nowhere to be seen.
We sold lots of our farmyard tales special offer books – just £1 each – bargain and we publicised our FREE starter kit.
It was a wonderfully relaxing day and we really enjoyed it!
Then I went and joined my family at Ryde Methodist Church Hall for a party!! We had a lot of fun. Some of the church members had worked extremely hard to provide food/ games etc so that we could all enjoy a memorable evening. My 86 year old father came runner up in musical chairs – bless him!!
