Usborne School Book fairs for World Book day
6 Usborne Book events in a week – phew!!
It has been a pretty exhausting week with 5 school events for World book day and a table top sale for fundraising. I started the week in Haslemere where I set up a display to help raise funds for the British Lung foundation. I then had a day in the office before embarking on non stop Usborne events from Tuesday to Saturday. On Tuesday I attended Mayfield Middle school for their World Book day school fair then popped home briefly and returned to display goods to the parents for parents evening. The school librarian will shortly be choosing lots of lovely FREE Usborne books as a result. On Wednesday I was at Brading Primary school where I set up a display in the school hall. During the afternoon, the children came, class by class, to view the display and then returned with their parents at the end of the school day. It is the first time I have done an Usborne school fair their and the teachers and I were all delighted with the result. The literacy coordinator has already chosen FREE books for the library.
On Thursday afternoon, which was actually World BOOK day, I went to Broadlea Primary school in Sandown. Here I was assisted by two children from the school council and I have to say they were brilliant. They help me set uo the display then they helped me serve the customers too. There was a very good attendance, and then my helpers were allowed to choose th FREE books for the school.
On Friday I attended Sandham Middle school where I set up a small display in the library and recruited the librarian.
On Saturday I got up at silly o’clock to travel up to London to North Bridge House school where I set up a display at their Spring Fair. One of my new team members in London came and helped and learnt “the ropes”. Again, we were very pleased with the results and am sure we wil be invited back again.
On Sunday, I thought I’d have a rest but not before setting up a small display at coffee time after church. This time I was helping with the fundraising for the new church building. Although the sales were not massive, every little helps and mighty oaks from little acorns grow.
It was a very busy week but very enjoyable. I sooooo love my job.
Sunday afternoon is a blur. I took a well earned rest and slept on my parents sofa!!
