Catch Up
Well after a very hectic day yesterday I am trying to catch up with myself and I have had a lie in!!!
When I got up yesterday there on the computer was a brilliant offer from Usborne – The First Reading Limited edition set 12 books for just £9.99.I was due out at a toddler group but just had to get the message out quickly to all the schools across the Island. I did this in about 2 minutes. Within anoth two minutes I had a school emailing to find out how to get them!! wow what a quick response.
I emailed on behalf of my whole Island team and the school that responded was not one we have already worked with,so now a brilliant opportunity exists for a team member to go and expand on our Usborne presence there – and the opportunities for the school to get FREE books.
I then went to a toddler group where I was successful in recruiting one of the members so a big welcome to Natalie.
I then went to put up posters for a book event we are holding in a local hotel, The Ryde Castle. It is under new management and recently my daughter and I had a cuppa in there and we had her 10 month old twins with us. What a bonus they are to my business. The new deputy manager came over and was chatting to Nicola and Charlotte. I HAD to tell her I was an Usborne book lady. The result, she loves Usborne and so do her bosses and the hotel are now hosting a community book event on 20th April 2 – 5pm. They want to benefit the community so my local team and I are out advertising the event to one and all. We have arranged a big community book pledge to coincide and already have promises of £500 of books for local schools which of course generates and extra £300 of FREEBIES. We are aiming for £5000 with an extra £3000 FREEBIES. I will be posting details of the those businesses who have made pledges on this site and I will also tell the local press as well as putting bookplates in the books. We are also arranging some story telling. It will be a win, win situation for everyone. Publicity for the Ryde Castle, the businesses who have made pledges and the Usborne team. We are aiming to raise literacy standards across the Island with lots of books being pledged by local businesses as well as meeting new people who want to know how Usborne can benefit them. It is during the school holidays so we are hoping to attract lots of tourists. The Ryde castle is in a brilliant position. – right on Ryde sea front and many day trippers pop over from Portsmouth as well as those who are here on holiday!!
Oh I forgot to say, I popped into the bank earlier and yes one even has to do Usborne in there. If they are wanting to look after my money they have to help me make it!!! I had the offer posters with me and left them for their perusal and they want a display of my bargains for their staff room!!
Hope you have a good day and return here soon.
have fun
